Creative guide

What players see when your ad runs in a Zuuks game, and how to prepare files that pass the checks and look right on every screen. You upload creatives in the advertiser panel, which checks each file before and after the upload.

Ad formats

tPiy ads fill the whole screen. They appear at natural breaks in the game — for example after a level — or when a player chooses to watch a video for a reward. You choose the formats in each campaign.

Ad formats: what the player sees, how the ad closes and when the reward is given
FormatWhat the player seesClosingReward
Interstitial imageOne full-screen image. The close button appears after a short delay set by the game — at most 5 seconds.—
Interstitial videoA full-screen video; at the end, your end card.A countdown shows when the ad can be skipped: the close button appears after at most 5 seconds, or when the video ends.—
Rewarded videoThe player chooses to watch your video for an in-game reward. At the end, your end card.No skipping: a countdown shows the time left, and the close button appears only when the video has ended.Only after the video has played to the end.

A video can run as an interstitial video and as a rewarded video; an image runs only as an interstitial image. Every ad shows the “Ad” label and a “Why this ad?” button. Banner and playable ads are not available yet.

What an ad is made of

In the panel, one ad is a creative set. A campaign can have several sets — for example one landscape and one portrait.

  • Main creative (required): a video or an interstitial image.
  • End card (optional): an image shown when the video ends. Without one, tPiy builds an end card from your icon, title and description on a dark background.
  • Icon (optional): your app’s icon, shown on the end card that tPiy builds.
  • Texts (required): a title, and optionally a description, in each language you add.
  • Button: its label, chosen from a list. Brand awareness campaigns have no button.

File specifications

Interstitial imageJPG or PNG1920×1080 landscape, 1080×1920 portraitLong side 1280–1920 px; 16:9 or 9:16; at most 2 MB
IconPNG or JPG512×512Square; 256–1024 px; at most 500 KB
  • 16:9 means the long side is 16/9 (about 1.78) times the short side; a difference of up to 2% is accepted. Portrait files are 9:16. Other shapes — 4:3, 18:9, 19.5:9 or square — are rejected for videos, end cards and images.
  • Video: H.264 only (not H.265/HEVC, VP9 or AV1). Sound is optional; if the video has sound, it must be AAC. Save the file with “faststart”, which puts the index at the start of the file (in ffmpeg: -movflags +faststart).
  • Keep videos small. Ads are downloaded to the player’s phone before they are shown, so 1080p videos are rejected. To stay within 10 MB, a 30-second video needs an average of about 2500 kbit/s for picture and sound together.
  • No WebP. The game engine (Unity) cannot decode WebP on the player’s phone, so the panel rejects WebP files. Save images as JPG or PNG.
  • Some games play ads without sound, so make sure your video also works muted.
  • A file cannot be changed after upload. For a new version, upload a new file; it is reviewed again.

Landscape and portrait

Every video, end card and image is either landscape (wider than tall) or portrait (taller than wide). You choose the orientation when you upload, and the panel checks it against the file’s width and height.

Each game is played in landscape, in portrait or in both. An ad is shown only in games whose orientation fits its main creative: landscape ads in landscape games, portrait ads in portrait games, and either in games that support both.

Most Zuuks games are played in landscape, so the landscape version matters most. Add a portrait version as a second creative set, so that your campaign can also run in portrait games. Give each video an end card of the same orientation.

Nothing is cropped or stretched. The whole picture is scaled to fit the screen, on a black background. Most phones are longer than 16:9, so players see black bars — at the sides in landscape, above and below in portrait — and tablets show bars too. You do not need a margin for cropping.

Keep the corners clear

tPiy places its own controls over your video, image and end card. They sit in the four corners and scale with the screen:

The numbered areas show where tPiy’s controls appear, in landscape and in portrait.
  1. Top left: the “Ad” label.
  2. Top right: the countdown, then the close button.
  3. Bottom left: the “Why this ad?” button.
  4. Bottom right: your button, for example “Install” — the largest control.

Keep logos, prices, faces and important text out of the corners. As a guide, leave an area about 40% of the shorter side wide and 15% of it high free in each corner: about 430 × 160 px in a 1920×1080 or 1080×1920 image, and about 290 × 110 px in a 1280×720 or 720×1280 video. Put your main message in the middle.

Do not draw buttons or close symbols into your picture: the real ones are added for you, and fake close buttons are not allowed (ad content policy).

Texts and button

  • Title: up to 30 characters; required.
  • Description: up to 90 characters; optional.
  • Add the texts in each language you target. Players see the text in their device’s language; if you did not add that language, they see English if you added it, otherwise another language you added.
  • The title, description and icon appear on the end card that tPiy builds when a video has no end-card image. If you use your own end card, put your message into the image.
  • Button: choose Install, Play, Learn more, Open or Shop now. You do not need to translate it: the tPiy SDK shows it in the player’s language — English, Turkish, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean or Simplified Chinese, and English for any other language.

What a tap does

What happens when a player taps your button, image or end card depends on the campaign’s objective. You choose it when you create the campaign; it cannot be changed later.

What a tap does, and what happens after the video, for each campaign objective
ObjectiveWhen the player tapsAfter the video
App installsYour app’s store page opens: on iOS inside the game, on Android in the Google Play app. When the video has played to the end, the store page can also open by itself, once. You can turn this off in the campaign.
Website trafficYour web page opens in an in-app browser (on Android, in the phone’s browser if the game has no in-app browser).Nothing opens by itself.
Brand awarenessNothing: there is no button and taps do nothing. The ad plays and closes.Nothing opens by itself.

Review and content rating

Our team reviews every new creative and campaign before it runs: the content, its content rating and its technical quality. We aim to review on the same business day; approval can take a few hours. If we reject a creative, we tell you why.

Each creative gets a content rating: Everyone, 12+, 16+ or 18+. Only Everyone and 12+ ads are shown in Zuuks games. Every ad must follow the ad content policy in the advertiser terms.
